In the event of snow:
School will notify Derbyshire County Council, you can check on their website whether or not the school is closed at http://www.derbyshire.gov.uk. They will then notify the local radio station, their website is: www.bbc.co.uk/derby
The school will endeavour to make a decision by 8am and we send a message via parenthub, our app service to notify parents of the closure.
If weather conditions are obvious to parents/carers they should ensure that their child is accompanied to school by a responsible adult who should remain with their child until such a time as the staff arrive, or until such time as a ‘school closed’ notice is displayed on school premises, or should use their discretion and return home. At no time in such circumstances should a child be allowed to attend school alone, parents/carers must assume responsibility for their own children until professional supervision is to hand.
If this means that a younger/older child is late arriving at their appropriate establishment, this reason for lateness will be acceptable.
In the case of severe weather conditions during the school day, the school will contact parents/carers through the texting service informing them that the school will be closing and that they should collect their children as soon as possible.
Can you please ensure that we have up to date telephone numbers for all emergency contacts.
